Ref Year Description Document
001 1750 Ardley Kendall 1750 Indenture. Lease for a year dated 23-10-1750 by Moses Kendall & Benjamin Ardley of three properties to Jeremiah Raven & John Finch. This manuscript made 'in the Twenty ffourth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second' is the first reference we have to Wrights Farm, though it does not name it explicitly. Lease for three properties: (1) messuage in Great Braxted with fields of 20 acres + 8 acres; (2) 2.5 acres in 'Tolleshunt Plains'; and (3) 'mesuage or tenement and ffarm scituate... in the several Parishes of Rivenhall and Cressing... containing together in the whole by estimation twenty seven acres more or less' [Wrights Farm], 'formerly occupied by Benjamin Ardley grandfather, then occupied by Benjamin Ardley father, and now occupied by Isaac Ardley'. Agreement refers to another Indenture [deed 002] to be made the day after the present agreement between the same two parties plus Sarah Kendall [who later married Benjamin Ardley], daughter of Moses Kendall, as the third party. Signed and sealed by Moses Kendall and Benjamin Ardley. pdf1
